MARTHA FREEMAN
BYARS-Services for Martha Ann Freeman, 81, of Byars are 2:00 Friday at the Stratford Church of Christ. Bill Jones and Bill Ballard will officiate. Burial will follow at Byars Cemetery.
Mrs. Freeman died Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at an Oklahoma City Hospital. She was born June 5, 1930 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to P.A. Newbern and Agnes Teel Newbern. She attended Byars Schools and graduated from Hockaday School in Dallas, Texas. She also attended Oklahoma University where she graduated in 1953. She was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority and an active member of the Delta Gamma Alumni.
She married Leonard Freeman on February 22, 1957. He preceded her in death on January 5, 2001. Mrs. Freeman was a lifelong resident of McClain County and a farmer and rancher. She attended Stratford Church of Christ.
Survivors include son, David Freeman and wife Cecilia of Byars, Oklahoma; a daughter, Lynne Freeman of Sacramento, California; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Freeman and David Cash Freeman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Ray Newbern.
Bearers are Phillip Shivers, Mark McGehee, Leslie Wood, Johnny Mann, Warren Thompson and Sidney Ellis.
