Alan, as he was known by his family and friends, was a very quiet, private man. During his younger years, he was inseparable from his cousin, Keith Flowers, with whom he was always getting into mischief by "falling" into any creek nearby, even in the coldest winter months. He attended Byng School and served time in the United States Army, where he was an excellent marksman. He always loved to spend time outdoors, camping, fishing and visiting with friends. Even though his last few years were difficult for him physically, he never gave up hope, rarely complaining, as he fought to regain his strength and health. He will be deeply missed by all who know and love him.
