Obituary

Mark Eugene Hagar

Services for Mark Eugene Hagar are at 10AM Thursday July 2, 2026 at Oak Avenue Baptist Church; Pastor Jaymeson Kennedy will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.

Mark, 61, passed away on June 27, 2026. He was born on August 21, 1964, and lived a life marked by hard work, laughter, dedication, and love for his family.

On June 6, 1998, Mark married the love of his life, Melody. Together they built a life rooted in love, commitment, and hard work. Mark was a devoted husband whose love was shown in the everyday moments of faithfulness, companionship, and unwavering support.

Mark had a wit that could brighten any room. His sense of humor was quick, playful, and always genuine. One of his favorite sayings was that he was “a big deal.” He would say it with a grin that let everyone know he was joking, and it became one of the many things those who loved him will never forget.

He found his greatest joy outdoors. Whether he was on his tractor, working the land, or tending to his cows, Mark was happiest with dirt on his boots and a job to do. He loved to fix things and seemed able to repair just about anything, always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and neighbors. He appreciated the simple things in life and took great pride in caring for his land.

Mark devoted many years of his life to teaching at Ada City Schools, where he made a lasting impact on countless students. Mark recently retired from Willard Elementary, where he taught fifth and sixth grade. His students loved him because he made learning fun, had a knack for connecting with kids, and, if you asked them, he was “the easy teacher.” His fellow teachers, on the other hand, would jokingly say he didn’t do anything at all. Mark took it all in stride, laughing right along with them. Behind the jokes was a teacher who cared deeply about his students and left a lasting impact on the many young lives he was privileged to teach.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Judy Hagar.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Melody Hagar; his sister, Jill Danielson, and her husband, Jeremy; his brother, Brett Hagar, and his wife, Cynthia; and many nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews all of whom he loved dearly. His family will forever cherish his stories, his laughter, his teasing, and the countless memories they shared together.

Though his earthly work has ended, Mark’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched as a husband, brother, teacher, uncle, and friend. He will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his unforgettable humor, and his ability to make those around him smile. His absence leaves a space that can never be filled, but those who knew and loved him will carry his memory in their hearts forever.

As Mark would probably remind us one last time with a smile and a grin he really was “a big deal.” And to everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving him, he always will be.
