Marjorie Ann
Butler
November 10, 1933 – June 30, 2019
Marjorie Ann Butler
Marjorie Ann Witten Butler passed away June 30th, 2019 at Oklahoma Heart Hospital surrounded by her family. Services will be Friday, July 5 at 10:00 AM at the Central Church of Christ. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM in Fletcher, OK. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Criswell Funeral Home.
She was born November 10, 1933, in her family home in Fletcher, OK, to Virgil Wayne Witten and Dovie Gertrude Moody Witten. She met the love of her life, Donald Eugene Butler, at the young age of 15 at Craterville Park near Cache, OK. She and Don married in Uma, AZ on January 12, 1952. A few months later Don was deployed overseas to serve in the Navy during the Korean War.
Shortly after his return from serving, Don and Marge relocated to Lawton, OK. They settled in Duncan, OK in 1956 where she took care of the home, raised their three sons and worked at Hagar Slacks while Don worked three jobs to support the family.
In June of 1972, the family moved to Ada and ventured into the convenience store business as they established Don's 7-11 on Cradduck Road. Marjorie managed the business while Don ran a chip and candy route for Tom's Snacks. In 1980 the business moved to 14th and Mississippi. She not only managed the store, but also taught her sons the business. In 1995 Marjorie and Don took over a business that was located at the intersection of Frances Road and Highway 99 in Byng.
Marge was a member of Central Church of Christ since their arrival to Ada in 1972. She had a tremendous love for all of her children, grandchildren, friends, and especially the love of her life, Don.
She was known to all for her smile and how genuine and kind she was. Marge was a hard worker, a devout Christian and the moral compass for her family. She was as gentle as an angel, but could be as tough as nails when it came to keeping her three rambunctious, rowdy, athletic sons and one old sailor in line.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Dovie Witten, sister, Patsy Witten, brother, Ronald Witten, infant son, Fred Dwayne Butler, and granddaughter, Summer Lorissa Butler.
She is survived by husband of 67 years, Donald Eugene Butler and brothers, David Witten and Truman Witten. Also, by her sons, Donald Allen Butler and wife Cindy, Michael Dale Butler and Brian Keith Butler all of Ada and special daughter, exchange student Sandra Honegger Zurcher, of Sweden. She was a wonderful grandmother to her 8 Grandchildren: Jeremy, Lindsay, Joshua, Matthew, Johnathon, Gregory, Andrea and Summer and 14 Great Grand Children.
Pall bearers will be Jason Prather, Jeremy Butler, Joshua Butler, Matthew Butler, Kent Franz and Steven Carrethers. Honorary Pall bearers are Dr. Morgan's Sunday School Class, Dan Harris, Walter Grant and Marvin Carrethers.
