Marion Fenton
There will be a visitation for Marion Fenton, of Ada Wednesday, January 15 at 1:00 p.m. at Criswell Funeral Home, 815 Arlington St, Ada, OK followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. led by Dr. Scott Fenton.
On the evening of January 11, 2020, Marion Fenton, 92 years of age, passed away peacefully. Marion was born on July 5, 1927, in Maud, Oklahoma, to Elbert and Emma Fenton. Following high school, Marion served in the United States Navy during World War II. After serving his country, Marion was a standout athlete in football and track for East Central State College in Ada. While playing wide receiver for East Central and earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Marion fell in love with homecoming queen, Miss Dorotha Luttrell. Marion and Dorotha married and were blessed with three children, Brad, Scott and Cindy, all raised in Ada.
Marion was not only a great athlete, known as the blonde bullet; he was also a great cheerleader for his kids. Football, baseball, basketball, track; whatever event the kids were involved in, he was always there cheering them on. Also an avid lover of the outdoors, Marion enjoyed waterskiing, riding horses and motorcycles with his children and grandchildren, as well as taking care of his horses and dogs.
In his sixty-year automobile business, he sold thousands of cars to family, friends, and neighbors—from Studebakers and Edsels to Pontiacs and GMC—all in Ada, Oklahoma. He always enjoyed meeting and helping those around him. Marion leaves a wonderful legacy for his three children: Brad Fenton of Plano, Texas; Scott and Judy Fenton of Plano, Texas; Cindy Carr of McAlester; nine grandchildren: Nick, Lance, Micah, Tori, Jessica, Jason, Seth, Madison and Morgan; and five great grandchildren: Miles, Camden, Zadie Bell, Miles and Levi.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Marion's honor to East Central University or First United Methodist Church of Ada.
