ADA-Memorial services for Marilyn Cates, 88, of Ada, will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Cates died Sunday, August 10, 2014 at a local hospital. She was born May 22, 1926 at Converse, Louisiana to Luther Guy and Adina Maude Latham Edwards. She graduated from high school in Noble, LA. She attended business school in Missouri and licensed practical nursing school at Byng.
She married Raleigh Coleman Cates on June 27, 1949. He preceded her in death on October 12, 2001 in Oklahoma City. Mrs. Cates was a licensed practical nurse at Valley View Regional Hospital from 1977 until 1999. She had previously been a legal secretary for Kerr, Con and Mayhue Law Firm. Mrs. Cates was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Zwolle, LA.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Osborn of Denver, CO; two grandchildren, Laura Marilyn Osborn and her husband, Asbed Bedrossian of Glendale, CA, and Mahate Sara Rose Osborn of Oakland, CA; three great-grandchildren, Daron Bedrossian, Liliy Bedrossian and Rowan Osarelli; and a special friends, Joyce Cook and Janice Rike.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, L. G. Edwards and Winston Edwards.
