MARGUERITE MAY
TUPELO-Services for Marguerite Aline (Dede) May, 84, Tupelo are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, David Boggs and Jim Chambers will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Stonewall.
Mrs. May died Sunday, January 31, 2010 at a Coalgate hospital. She was born March 14, 1925 in Lamesa, Texas to Hollie and Mary Hudson Lunsford. She attended Clarita schools.
She married John William "Bill" May on March 11, 1946 in Salinas, California. He preceded her in death August 13, 1966 in Salinas. Mrs. May was the owner along with her daughter, Sharon Pickens of the Kountry Store in Tupelo for over 30 years. She worked at the Kountry Store everyday until the last three years and became an integral part of the small town and had a host of people who called her friend and confidant.
Survivors include one son, Billy May and wife Alicia, Las Vegas, NM; one daughter, Sharon Pickens and husband Robert, Tupelo; four grandchildren, Jon William May and wife Nasim, and Marc May and wife Amy, Las Vegas, NM; Everett Pickens and friend Jackie Adams and sons, Austin and Ethan, Tupelo, and Rusty Pickens, Washington, DC; three great grandchildren, Amara May, Talia May and Cassidy May, Las Vegas, NM; and one sister, Helen Chambers and husband Jim, Ada.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hollie and Mary Lunsford; three sisters, Mildred May, Pauline Maddox, and Lucille Lunsford; and a brother, Cleo Lunsford.
Bearers will be Marc May, John May, Everett Pickens, Rusty Pickens, Josh Newport and Caleb Christian.
