Obituary

Margie Denise Beck loved to make people laugh and be made to laugh, loved to love and to be loved. We will try to honor her memory in this way.

Margie was born on March 22, 1973 to Dorothy Hess and Andrew Manford. In 1991 she graduated from High School in Redlands, CA after which she joined the military.

Margie served this country for six years as a Combat Medic in the Army and was honorably discharged. She would go on to become a learned woman with degrees in Theater and Dramatic Arts and Business Management. She moved to Ada Oklahoma where she would join the staff and student body at East Central University.

During her journey, she would become a mother to three amazing minions; Kirsten, William and Patrick. She would become a proud Gigi to Hunter and Kayson. She would meet the Lancelot to her Guinevere, Laramie, and the two would wed on June 10, 2012.

Margie served her community on the Board of Directors for the Ada Shakespeare Company. Margie's gregarious nature, theatrical genius and general resourcefulness caused her to rise to fame performing and producing theatrical shows. If you enjoyed a theatrical performance in Ada over the past few years, she probably had a hand in it.

Beautifully compassionate and supportive, Margie believed in loving one's self and encouraging others to do the same. Unlike most, she did something about it and co-founded Big Beautiful Women and Big Handsome Men, a size acceptance group that promotes accepting yourself as you are. To date, the group has over 3,000 members.

Lively and vibrant, she was known for her love of family, travel and renaissance fairs. Not to mention she made a mean banana pudding which will certainly be missed during family gatherings.

Margie Beck escaped this mortal realm on April 3, 2022 surrounded by love. She is preceded in death by her father, Andrew Manford, and her brother, Jeffrey Paul Earls. She is survived by her husband Laramie Shane Beck of Byng, OK and three children: Kirsten Cullison of Durant, OK; William Brock of Byng, OK; and Patrick Beck of Byng, OK. Her grandchildren: Hunter Scott Foster of Durant, OK and Kayson Keith Sherwood of Durant, OK. Her mother Dorothy Hess of Mountain Home, AR; and her sister Sandee Prescott of Charleston SC. She'd probably haunt us if we didn't mention that she is also survived by her beloved rescue dogs: Popsicle, Lilly, and Daisy.

Finally, Margie leaves behind a community of dear friends and colleagues. At 49 years old, The Good Die Young rings true. Our world is a little darker without her light.

A Celebration of a life well lived will be held at 6:00 PM at the East Central University Ballroom on April 16, 2022.
