MARGARET COMPTON

NEWTON, KANSAS-Graveside services for Margaret Ellen Breeden Compton, 89, Newton, Kansas, formerly of Ada are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Connerville Cemetery, Rev. John Haynes and Marc Compton will officiate.

Mrs. Compton died Sunday, October 19, 2008 at a Newton, Kansas nursing home. She was born November 3, 1918 on the family acreage near Ada, Oklahoma to William E. and Lavina Taylor Breeden. She attended grade school and high school in Ada.

She married E. L. Compton on April 2, 1946 in Ada. He preceded her in death on October 12, 1990. Mrs. Compton was a child care provider and later she worked as a nurse's aide at Valley View Regional Hospital. She attended the First Baptist Church in Ada for many years and was involved in the church nursery for several years.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Compton and wife Becky, Ada, and Rod Compton and wife Sara, Newton, Kansas; grandchildren, Kathryn Baker and husband Jeff, Kremlin, OK, Jonna Compton, Ada, Nicole Compton, Neosho, MO, and Marc Compton, Newton, KS; three great grandchildren, Logan, Bentley, and McQuinn Baker; a brother, Calvin Breeden, Ada; and a sister, Thelma Gurley, Hilton Head Island, SC.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and brothers, William, Grant, George, Logan and her twin Phillip.
