LYNN HARBIN
ADA-Memorial services for Lynn Mitchell Harbin, 85, of Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Southwest Church of Christ, Floyd Kaiser will officiate. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
Mr. Harbin died Monday, September, 17, 2012 at a Norman Veterans Center. He was born June 10, 1927 at Lula, Oklahoma to Paul Eugene and Grace Inez Welch Harbin. He graduated from Lula High School, where he was Valedictorian and attended East Central University.
He married Virginia Lou Morris on October 23, 1948. She preceded him in death on January 18, 2000. Mr. Harbin was a Postal Clerk in Ada until his retirement. Previously, he was employed with Santa Fe Railroad. Mr. Harbin was a longtime member of Southwest Church of Christ. He had served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and later served with the National Guard and was a Commander in the American Legion for 63 years. He held State and National offices and was a member of the State Revitalization Team helping re-establish 30 Post and the National Membership Committee.
Survivors include two daughters, Jenny Lee and husband James, Ada, and Carol Byers, Salem, OR: three sons, Harral Harbin, Ada, Paul Harbin and wife Carrie, Ada, and James Harbin, Ada; one sister, Norma Jean Crawford and husband Jack, Mt. View, OK; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Harbin.
Honorary bearers will be Jim Fiedler, Billy Johnson and Michelle Steinmetz.
