Services for Lynda Kay Simpson, 76, of Ada are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church, Rev. Vicki Nix will officiate. A private burial will precede the service.
Mrs. Simpson passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020 at an Oklahoma City hospital. She was born September 12, 1943 at Frederick, OK to Walter and Effie McDowell Sherman. She attended grade school in Hollister and graduated from Hollister High School. She graduated from East Central University with a Bachelor's and Master's Degree.
She married Forest E. Simpson June 7, 1971. He preceded her in death December 5, 1989. Lynda Kay taught school in Holdenville and Allen. In 1984, she and her husband Forest built and owned Southern Oklahoma Livestock Auction in Ada, selling the company in 1995. She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church and held many positions at the church. She was on the Board of the East Central University Foundation, serving as President and was also on the Board of the Family-Consumer Sciences at East Central. She also served on the Board of the Ada Library Friends.
Survivors include her three sisters, her twin, Letha Wood and her husband Pud, Barbara Riggan and JoAnn Gober; a brother, Payton Sherman and his wife Donna; her mother-in-law, Lena Simpson; and her nieces, Scottie McClure and her children, Marleigh and Mayme McClure and Shannon Wood; numerous other nieces and nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.
Bearers will be Shane Coker, Jason Carter, Bruce Carson, Rob Sherman, Jerry Lamb and George Miller.
