Lydia Medrano
Lydia Nelida Medrano (also known as Girlie & Lee-Da), age 27, of Fort Worth, TX, left this world unexpectedly on the 5th of May, 2026. She was a devoted mother, cheerful and bubbly daughter, beloved granddaughter, and loyal friend, and her presence will be immensely missed.
Lydia was born on the 11th day of February, in the year 1999, in Ada, OK, to Gerardo Medrano Jr. and Yolanda (formerly Mrs. Medrano) Gutierrez. She briefly grew up in Stonewall, OK, later she and her family moved and lived in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, where she attended elementary, middle, and high schools in Keller ISD and enjoyed being part of school functions with friends.
In 2022, Lydia welcomed her first and only child, Nyla M. Sotello. Lydia is survived by Nyla.
Lydia spent much of her early teen years working in customer service and later for the company, Amazon. Outside of work, she enjoyed drawing and painting, swimming, camping, taking her daughter to the park and local events, as well as being with family and friends. Friends and family remember her for her radiant energy, huge smile, her cheerfulness, being a hard worker, her kindness to everyone she met, her sense of humor, and, most of all, the pure love that she bestowed.
Lydia is survived by her daughter, Nyla Sotello; mother, Yolanda Gutierrez; father, Gerardo Medrano Jr.; stepmother, Laura Medrano; sisters, Abigail Medrano & Gisele Medrano, and nephew, Armani Medrano-Green. Paternal grandparents, Consuelo and Gerardo Medrano Sr.; aunt Maribel (nee Medrano) & uncle Theron Richardson, and uncle Adrian Medrano. Maternal grandparents, Vernitta R. (nee Cochran) & Adolfo L. Gutierrez, Sr.; aunt Lorita L. (nee Gutierrez) Calzada; aunt Luisa-María (nee Gutierrez) Frias; uncle Cornelio D. Gutierrez; and uncle Adolfo L. Gutierrez III, and Roman Gutierrez. As well as a host of other extended aunts, uncles, and cousins throughout the United States of America and internationally in Mexico.
She was preceded in death by all of her great-grandparents: Lola Bell (nee Bruner) & Rev. Freddie D. Cochran Sr. of Lula, OK; Loreto Lopez & Cornelio Gutierrez of Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, Mexico; and Paula Anselmo Medrano of Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico.
A Funeral service will be held on the 13th of May 2026 at Criswell Funeral Home in Ada, OK, beginning at 2:00 pm.
The family suggests that any heartfelt condolences in the form of floral arrangements and/or donations be sent to 27068 County Rd 1574, Stonewall, OK 74871, in care of “Lydia Medrano”.
