Luena Sawyer

Services for Luena Sawyer, 85, of Ada are 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Wayne Edgar will officiate. Burial will follow at Hodges Cemetery in Ada.

Mrs. Sawyer passed away Sunday, May 24, 2020 in Ada. She was born September 9, 1934 in the Sunshine Community, south of Roff to Hawkins and Lula Ashley Underhill. She attended Sunshine grade school, graduated from McLish High School in 1951 and attended East Central University.

She married Wendell Sawyer July 14, 1956. He preceded her in death April 12, 2014. Mrs. Sawyer was a homemaker and a member of Sunshine Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her family and loved watching her children and grandchildren play basketball.

Survivors include a son, Daryl Sawyer, Roff; three daughters, Rita Dunn, Ada, Sonia Sealock and husband Mike, Ada and Lora Anderson and husband Ron, Ada; brother, Wiley H. Underhill and wife Norma, Ada; her grandchildren, Katelyn Connell, July Sawyer, Colby Sawyer, Amber Tamez, Ashleigh Lucas, Mitchell Trimmer, Jason Trimmer, Lauren Trimmer, Virginia Anderson and Julia Sealock; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Harmon Underhill; a sister, Octavia Collins; and a son-in-law, Mike Dunn.

Bearers will be Daryl Sawyer, July Sawyer, Mitchell Trimmer, Jason Trimmer, Michael Sealock and Michael Tamez.
