LUCILLE WATSON
ALLEN-Services for Lucille "Lucy" Watson, 92, Allen, are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Allen Church of Christ, Buddy Drake and Mark Legg will officiate. Burial will follow at the Allen Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Allen Chapel from 4:00 p.m. Tuesday until service time.
Mrs. Watson died Friday, November 25, 2011 at her home. She was born July 29, 1919 in Allen, Oklahoma to William Leven and Patience Emmer Tryon Gilmore. Lucille was the last of 9 Gilmore children that were born and raised in Allen, I.T. Her father, William Gilmore came to present day Allen, I.T. in 1882 with his father, Dr. John T. Gilmore. Her mother, Patience Emmer "Emma" Tryon came to I.T. in 1880 with her father, Eugean Tryon. Dr. Gilmore married the couple in Allen, I.T. in 1894. To this union was born 3 boys and 6 girls, Lucille was the youngest of the children. Everyone called her Aunt Lucy and she enjoyed entertaining and never met a stranger…anywhere. Lucy and her happy smile and enjoyment of life will be missed.
Mrs. Watson was a telephone operator in Allen, later she was a Bank Teller-General Ledger for the First National Bank in Ada and later the American Bank in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was a longtime member of the Allen Church of Christ, and a life member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include a son, David Watson and his wife Lyudmyla of Corpus Christi, TX; two grand-daughters, Yevheniya Hrablina of Corpus Christi, TX, and Yana Lopatshenko and husband Sergio of Kiev, Ukraine; special friends, Geraldine Frederick, and her daughters, Carolyn and Diane, and Jewell Rocha and Danny and Nancy McDougal; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bearers will be Charles Luther Watson, Jerry Fleming, William Thomas Gilmore, Mike Fleming, Danny McDougal and Danny Jurica.
