Louis Richard
Services for Louis Harold Richard, 75, of Fittstown are 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Pontotoc Cemetery. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.
Mr. Richard passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016 at the Ardmore Veterans Center. He was born August 26, 1940 in Byars to Will and Alma Faye Hopper Richard. He attended schools in Asher and graduated from Asher High School. He also attended East Central University in Ada for three years.
He married Tommie Lou Worcester August 19, 1961. She preceded him in death September 3, 2005. Mr. Richard served in the U. S. Army from 1958 until retiring in 1979. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam and in Germany. Mr. Richard was an instructor for non-commissioned officers Artillery School at Ft. Sill. After retiring from the military, he was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of the Union Valley Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, James Richard and wife Angela of Fittstown and David Lee Richard of Konawa; a daughter-in-law, Joy Richard of Konawa; four grandchildren, Curtis Walker of Pickett, James Richard Jr. of Denton, TX, Laticia Abbott of Ada and Brett Richard of Oklahoma City; and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Timothy Wayne Richard; and two sisters, Melba Gibson and Evelyn Grimsley.
Bearers will be the Chickasaw Nation Honor Guard.
