ADA-Services for Loretta "Weta" Francis Lawson Shortes, 76, Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Covenant Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Rev. Linda Snelling will officiate. Burial will follow at Swan Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Shortes died Friday, December 24, 2010 at her home. She was born March 26, 1934 at Ada, Oklahoma. She attended Egypt community grade school and graduated from Latta High School in 1952. She also attended East Central University.
She married Robert Henry Shortes on July 11, 1952 in Ada. He preceded her in death on May 16, 2004 in Ada. Mrs. Shortes was a homemaker and an elder and active member for 56 years of the Covenant Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Western Swing Society of the Southwest and is survived by a host of many friends whom she loved dearly. She was also a member of the B.P.O. E. Lodge #1640.
Survivors include two daughters, Debra Strong and her husband Roger, Ada, and Kim Brashear and her husband Maurice, Ada; four grandchildren, Jeremy Strong and his wife Mika, Allen, Robin Anderson and her husband Aaron, Ada, Brandi Holloway and her husband Brad, Ada, and Brynna Lipsitz and her husband Lex, Nashville, TN; five great grandchildren, Hailey Baber, Ada, Gehrig Strong, Allen, Abbey Strong, Allen, Emily Holloway, Ada, and Paislee Anderson, Ada; a sister, Wanda Martin, Ada; longtime friend, Marie Collins; a special care-giver, Linda Perkins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bearers will be her grandson, Jeremy Strong; grandsons-in-law, Brad Holloway, Lex Lipsitz and Aaron Anderson; and sons-in-law, Maurice Brashear and Roger Strong.
The family says those who wish may make memorials to the Covenant Cumberland Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 15791 State Hwy 1 W, Ada, OK 74820.
