SHORTY SHANDY
ALLEN-Graveside services for Lorene 'Shorty' Odessa Shandy, 95, Allen, are 11 a.m. Monday at Allen Cemetery, Rev. Earl Hood officiating. Family and friends may visit at the Criswell Chapel in Allen from 5 p.m. Sunday until service time.
Mrs. Shandy died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, at an Allen nursing home. She was born Aug. 14, 1915, to George Oliver and Dorothy Smith Dean at Ardmore. She was a college graduate, a homemaker and an avid musician and vocalist. She was a member of the Allen First Baptist Church.
She was married to Demmon Shandy June 8, 1936. They lived in Allen many years.
Survivors include three nephews, Bill Dean, Bob Dean and Dean Atkinson, all of Houston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Demmon Shandy, Dec. 20, 2004; a sister, Juanita Dean and a brother, George Dean.
