LONNIE MCGAUGH
ADA-Services for Lonnie L. McGaugh, 95, Ada, are 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Steve Gardner and Jim Gurley will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.
Mr. McGaugh died Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at his home. He was born February 14, 1916 in Arkansas to Robert and Ludie Phillips McGaugh. He and his family came to Oklahoma when he was a child. He attended Mason school in Okfuskee County.
He married Jalean Crow on January 15, 1937. Mr. McGaugh was a retired grocery man, having worked for M & P Stores for 35 years. Later, he was co-owner of M & S Grocery Store in Ada. After he sold the M & S Store, he worked for Southern Oklahoma Pathology at Valley View Regional Hospital. He retired from there in 1995. Mr. McGaugh served in the U. S. Army during World War II in the European Theatre of Operations. He received three purple hearts and other medals. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Combat Infantry Association. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Jalean McGaugh, of the home; two sons, Jerry McGaugh of McAlester, and Jack McGaugh and wife Lea Ann of Flint, Michigan; four grandsons, Kevin McGaugh of Dallas, TX, Mike Christopher of Frisco, TX, Stacy McGaugh of Cleveland, OH, and Eric McGaugh of East Lansing, MI; and 8 great grandchildren.
Bearers will be Gary Cluck, Larry Cluck, Brad Faust, Tom Blackwell, Kevin McGaugh and Eric McGaugh.
