Lois Anetta Ross
Lois Anetta (Moore) Ross, age 84, passed away at her home surrounded by the love of her family, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, devotion, and strength that touched countless lives.
Lois was born with a feisty spirit and a determined heart—qualities that would carry her through a remarkable life. Lois Anetta (Moore) Ross was born on June 10, 1941 in Abilene, Texas to W.H. "Bill" Moore and Thelma (Factor) Moore. She spent her childhood in Ada, Oklahoma and graduated from Ada High School in 1959.
On April 7, 1961, she married the love of her life, Richard Ross, in Douglas, Wyoming. Together, they embarked on early adventures that took them from Wyoming to New Mexico, and even abroad to the Marshall Islands and Saudi Arabia, following Richard's work. No matter where they lived, their bond and the joy they found in each other remained constant.
Their journey eventually led them home to Ada, Oklahoma, where they lovingly raised their two children, Randall Ross and Nancy Ross Logan. Lois was a devoted wife, mother, and the heart of her family—but beyond the love she poured into her home was her lifelong dedication to nursing.
Answering a calling that fit her perfectly, Lois graduated from Murray State College in 1973 with her degree in Nursing. She devoted the entirety of her career to Valley View Regional Hospital, where she was known as a fierce advocate for her patients and her fellow nurses. Colleagues remember her as Mama Ross, both gentle and caring, yet unafraid to be feisty when it meant protecting those in her care. Her commitment, skill, and compassion made her a beloved presence throughout the hospital. After retiring in 2003, her influence continued to be felt by those who had the privilege of working alongside her.
Of all her roles in life, the one that brought her the most joy was being Granny. She adored her grandchildren and supported them in everything they loved, cheering them on through every stage of life. Granny wasn't just Granny to her own grandchildren—she lovingly welcomed all their friends as if they were part of her family, offering the same kindness, humor, and encouragement she was known for.
Lois will be remembered for her unwavering love, her dedication to others, and the warmth she shared so freely. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the countless patients she cared for, and the many lives she touched simply by being herself.
May her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include: Her husband, Richard Ross, of the home (Ada), children Randall Ross and wife, Debra (Ada) and Nancy (Ross) Logan and husband, David (Ada).
