LOIS NICKELL
ADA-Services for Lois Kay Nickell, 73, Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Friday at the First United Pentecostal Church, Rev. Daniel Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Stonewall. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Nickell died Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at a local hospital. She was born January 21, 1937 at Webster City, Iowa to Delmar L. and Ethel Smith Gifford. She graduated from Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth, Texas and attended business college in Texas.
She married Marvin Elmo Nickell on July 17, 1959. He preceded her in death on April 1, 2009. She and her family moved back to Ada in 1969 from Fort Worth, Texas. Mrs. Nickell was a House Manager at McCall's Chapel and later a cook at Ballard Nursing Center in Ada until her retirement. She was an active member of the First United Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Chambers and husband John, Wewoka, and Lisa Bergman and husband Rev. Todd Bergman, Turpin, OK; three sons, David Nickell and wife Lela, Van Buren, AR, Mark Nickell and wife Sonja, Greenwood, AR, and Steven Nickell, Centerton, AR; a sister, Jeannine Jones, Houston, TX; a brother-in-law, Wiley Nickell, of the home; sister-in-law, Joyce Newberry, Ada; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
