LOIS HUGHES
ADA-Private family services for Lois Olive Hughes, 88, Ada, will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Hughes died Thursday, March 4, 2010, in Ada. She was born Jan. 17, 1922, to Harry and Olive Hutchinson Bates in Holly, Colorado. She graduated from high school in Holly. She worked as a civilian employee with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and then was employed with the Haysville, Kansas school district as a clerical worker for 39 years. Mrs. Hughes moved to Ada in 2003. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
She and Buck Hughes were married in 1949. He died in 1988.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary Hampton and husband Tom, Ada, Judy Van Bibber and husband Howard, Wichita, Kansas, Betty Vanalstine and husband Kurt, Hutchinson, Kansas, and Jackie Kleman and husband Larry, Baxter Springs, Kansas; and seven grandchildren.
