LINDON TATE
ALLEN-Services for Lindon C. Tate, 81, Allen, are 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Allen Church of Christ, Danny Stewart will officiate. Burial will follow at Allen Cemetery. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery. Friends may call at the Allen Chapel from 4:00 p.m. Thursday until service time Friday.
Mr. Tate died Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at the Veterans hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born January 9, 1927 at Allen, Oklahoma to Luther and Mabel Plunk Tate. He attended Leader grade school and graduated from Allen High School.
He married Edna Patrick in 1951. She preceded him in death in 1988. Mr. Tate formerly owned Tate Equipment Company, an Oliver Dealership in Allen. He was instrumental in bringing irrigation for crops in eastern Pontotoc and Hughes counties. Mr. Tate served in the U. S. Air Force.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Tate, Ada, and Rick Tate and Linda, Newcastle; a brother, Dwain Tate, Atwood; a sister, Weona Wilcox, Oklahoma City; and grandchildren, Chris Tate, Norman, Patrick Tate, Newcastle, Kayla Blue, Coalgate, and Kyrstan Glasco, Coalgate.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Glasco in February 2001, and a grandson, Doug Tate.
Bearers will be Patrick Tate, Chris Tate, Byron Rowsey, Roger Rowsey, Jimmy Nix, and Larry Darbison. Honorary bearers will be Marion Borders, Otto Harrington, Jerry Henderson, J. E. Jones, Don Olivo, Frank Huffstutlar, Ruben Huffstutlar, Jr., Purvey Knighten, and Bob Plunk.
