LINDA BYRD
ADA-Services for Linda Kay Ellis Byrd, 64, of Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Center Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Byrd died Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at an Oklahoma hospital. She was born June 24, 1948 at Ada, Oklahoma to Ralph Russell and Lyda Bernice Teel Ellis. She was a lifelong resident of this area and graduated from Ada High School. She received a teaching degree from East Central University in 1984.
She married Wayne Erwin Byrd on April 1, 1966 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. Mrs. Byrd taught school from 1988-1991 and later from 1999-2003 in Gallup, New Mexico. She attended Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church for many years. She loved sitting on the porch with her grandson watching the birds, travelling with her husband Wayne and with her family, and her pets.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Byrd, of the home; a daughter, Tammie (Byrd) Bean, son-in-law, Bill Bean, and grandson, Sean Bean, all of Ada; sisters, Sheila Ellis DeSoto of Ada, Hazel Ellis Faulkner of Ada, Becky Ellis Brenholtz of Pauls Valley, and Debbie Ellis Graham; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; a lifelong friend, Ronnie Anglin of Ada, a niece, Angela Graham Sliger whom she always considered to be a daughter of Ada, and nephew, Bo Ellis, whom she always considered to be a son and their families of Ada.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lyda Ellis; her father, Ralph Ellis; sister, Mildred Ellis; and two brothers, Eugene Ellis and Larry Ellis.
Bearers will be Bo Ellis, Bill Bean, Cole Sliger, Ronnie Anglin, Bob Aubrey and Joe Johnson.
