LEROY COOK
NAPA, CALIFORNIA-Services for Leroy Cook, 82, Napa, California, formerly of Allen are 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Richmond Avenue Free Will Baptist Church, Rev. Buddy Drake will officiate. Burial will follow at the Allen Cemetery
Mr. Cook died Monday, June 11, 2012 at a Napa, CA hospital. He was born February 10, 1930 at Atwood, Oklahoma to Dan and Rhoda Moody Cook.
At age 11, his family moved to California where he attended school before joining the Merchant Marines at the age of 14. He had many jobs in between sailing and finally retired with his 25 years of service. He went to work as a member of the Operating Engineers Union, where he finished his career with Ghilotti Brothers Construction. Leroy moved back to Oklahoma upon his retirement and spent his time on his 160 acre cattle ranch. He returned to California in 2011. Lee was a big fan of anyone who could make him laugh or take his teasing.
He is survived by his children, Teri Price and husband Dave, Dana Cook and husband Darryl, and Craig Koen and wife Karen; grandchildren, Brent Koen, Carl Price and wife Jacqueline, Matt Price and wife Annie and Bailey Price; his great grandchildren, Tyler and Adleigh Koen, and Kennley Price; his lifelong friend, Marge Cook; and numerous nieces and nephews in California, Oklahoma and Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Rhoda; his brothers, Dan, Dale and Leon; and his sisters, Gladys Lippard, Vinita "Pete" Durham, and Georgia "Cookie" Barnes.
The family says those who wish may make memorials to a youth sports organization of your choice, as Leroy loved watching kids play sports, especially baseball/softball.
