Obituary

Leora Velda Gallup, 94, of Ada, Oklahoma, beloved wife, mother and friend, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2025 surrounded by the love she so effortlessly gave to others. Born on February 4, 1931 in Battle Creek, Nebraska, to Emil and Eltie (Magdanz) Weyhrich, she lived a life defined by kindness, welcoming and warmth that made everyone feel at home and valued.

She married William (Pat) Gallup on June 15, 1952 in O'Neil Nebraska. Leora lived most of her life in Stratford where she and Pat were owners of Gallup Construction Company and Hart Tackle Company. Together they raised five children.

Her house was more than a house to her family, it was a sanctuary and a second home to her children's, and later, her grandchildren's friends. A place where laughter echoed, countless games were played and no one ever left hungry or unnoticed. When you stepped through her door, you became family. She celebrated every accomplishment and offered comfort through every heartbreak. Her home was always open and her heart even more so.

Leora was a baptized Lutheran and a member of First Lutheran Church of Ada for more than 60 years. Her faith was inspirational and her commitment to Christ was evident throughout her daily life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pat Gallup, her parents, Emil and Eltie Weyhrich, sister Marlene Spry, brother Rolland Weyhrich and grandchildren Scott Gallup Robertson, Christopher David Gallup and Ashley Elizabeth Devereaux.

She is survived by her five children and their spouses, Regina and Mel Robertson of Ada, Becky and Russell Payton of Oklahoma City, Mary and John Garber of Ada, Mike and Cindy Gallup of Stratford, and David and Karen Gallup of Perth, Australia.

She is also survived by her grandchildren and their spouses, Kelly and Matthew Wells, Jacey and Jace Martin, Kim and John McKimmey, Jill and Arik Flanders, Jennifer Bryant, Brent and Martina Robertson, Allison and John Luke Garber, Jennifer Dean, Iris Gallup, Hailey Gallup, Dylan Gallup, Heath and RaeLynn Payton, Justin Payton, Ky and Cody Davis, Josh and Meleah DeBlase and Abigail Hebb.

Great-grandchildren are Eltie and Osi' Robertson; Leah and Ashley Martin; Leighton and Savannah Flanders; Spencer, Maggie, and Evan Wells; Jack, Hattie, Jude and Ellis McKimmey; Autumn Garber; Kobe Payton; Luke and Hannah Douglas; Phi and Delta Davis; Avery and Kinley Payton; Maddox and Oliver Smithwick.

She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and loved ones.

Pallbearers are grandchildren Kelly Wells, Jacey Martin, Kim McKimmey, Jill Flanders, Jennipher Bryant, Brent Robertson, Allison Garber, Iris Gallup, Hailey Gallup and Dylan Gallup.

Honorary Pallbearers are the ladies of the Friends Team at Psalms Place (Baptist Village Assisted Living) Anna Holland, Christina Lawrence, Starla Sweeney, Clarissa Chitto, Sara Gardner, Kyara Gregory, Laura Johnson, Nichole Cortez, Beth Harrison, Saphire Walton, Hailey Edwards, Ann Miller, Marie Harris, Stephanie Miller and Linda Osborn as a token of the deep gratitude for the loving and compassionate care that they provided.

Though she will be greatly missed, Leora's legacy will live on in the countless lives she touched – a legacy of love, welcome, generosity and grace. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Baptist Village Assisted Living Center. Donations will be used to renovate the outdoor gazebo where Leora loved spending time in nature. Donations may be sent to Baptist Village, 3051 Oakridge Blvd, Ada, OK 74820.

A celebration of Leora's life will be held on Tuesday, December 16 at 10:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Ada, Oklahoma, where friends and family are invited to join in honoring her life and the endless love she gave so freely, especially to the family she cherished with all her heart.
