Leonard Daniel
Services for Leonard Thomas Daniel, 82, of Stonewall will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Stonewall First Baptist Church, Rev. Richard Dickerson will officiate. Burial will follow at Byrd's Prairie Cemetery near Tupelo. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Daniel died Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at an assisted living center in Ada. He was born July 17, 1937 in Ada to John M. and Margaret O'dell Bowen Daniel. He graduated from Stonewall High School.
He married Alma Faye Sanders July 26, 1961 in Tupelo. She preceded him in death February 4, 2017. Mr. Daniel served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 until 1960. He retired from many years of farming, custom hay baling, being a truck driver for Meads Bakery and CKC, and oil well pumping. He was also a member of the Bright Star Lodge 113 AFAM.
Survivors include his children, Tammy Latimer, Tom Daniel and wife Sharyl, Kim Lackey and husband Gary and Pam King and husband Gary; daughter-in-law, Diane Gilmore; his grandchildren, Zach Caldwell and wife Lisa, Tobie Jones and husband Matt, Jonathan Daniel and girlfriend Amber Sutton, Bradianne Roberson husband Trey, Shelby Davis and husband Trevor, Trent Lackey, Carey Whaley, Kelly Stokes, Tori Lankford and husband Zach, Angela, Jenny, Beth and Ben Ellis and Heather Mendez; 16 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Johnny Daniel and wife Nola; brothers-in-law, Audie Sanders and wife Wanda, Jack Sanders, Jerry Sanders, Glenn Sanders and wife Phyllis; sister-in-law, Nancy Sanders; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and beloved dog "Sam".
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alma; sons, Ricky Ellis and Barry Ellis; grandson, Chad Ellis; brother-in-law, Herbert Sanders; and sister-in-law Beverly White.
Bearers will be, Jonathan Daniel, Trent Lackey, Matt Jones, Trey Roberson, Trevor Davis and Zach Lankford. Honorary bearers will be Audie Sanders, J. R. Thomas, R. V. Brady, Sam Townsend, Glenn McDonald and Jack Blair.
