Obituary

Services for Laymond Dale "Purse" Purser, 85, of Edmond, formerly of Ada, are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at the Central Church of Christ, Mr. Kinney Bryant and Terry Dockins will officiate.  Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Woodberry Forest Cemetery, Madill, OK.  The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mr. Purser died Friday, September 24, 2021 at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born March 6, 1936 in Madill to Ernest Monroe and Pearly Mae Levins Purser.

He married Joy Lu Brown in 1960. Mr. Purser served in the U. S. Army Reserve retiring after 35 years as a Sergeant Major in 1990.  He was also employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone/AT&T as a lineman and repairman. While in Ada, he was a member and deacon at the Central Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Joy, of the home; a daughter, Kelly Carpenter and husband Andy, Edmond; a son Craig Purser and wife Lori, Edmond; brother-in-law, George and wife Sherry Duncan, Edmond; sister, Ernestine Griffin and husband Glen, Ada; four grandchildren, Rustin Purser, Yukon, Reagan Purser, Dallas, TX, Carlee Harris and husband Connor, Edmond and Jacob Carpenter and wife Meg, Springdale, AR; and caregiver, Kerri Matlock, Oklahoma City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Blayne Andrew Carpenter; brother, Harold Gene Purser; niece, Jana Griffin; and nephew, Rodney Purser.

Bearers will be Rustin Purser, Jacob Carpenter, Connor Harris, Ty Duncan, Jeff Duncan and Todd Duncan.
