LAVONA JONES
ADA-Services for Lavona Tilley Jones, 94, of Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Monday, at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. James Stuart and Sean Jones Jesse will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Jones died Friday, December 20, 2013 at a local nursing home. She was born August 1, 1919 in Ada, Oklahoma to Robert E. and Irene Tilley. She attended grade school at Walnut Grove and graduated from Vanoss High School. She attended East Central University for two years.
Mrs. Jones wrote for the Ada Weekly News in the 1950's and 60's. She was also a dairy farmer and homemaker. She was a member of the Union Hill Baptist Church for 66 years and taught the Junior Class for 30 years.
Survivors include two sons, Benny Jones and wife Janet and Glenn Jones and wife Deanna, all of Ada; a daughter, Barbara Newby Lackey and husband James of Stonewall; her grandchildren, Kathy Lofton and Steve Newby, both of Ada, Kenny Jones, Texas, Kari Jones Delaporta, Alabama, Brannon Jones Patzer, Florida, Deanna Jones Gallavan, Oklahoma City, Jennifer Jones Jesse and Jonathan Jones, both of Ada, T. J. Hirosky, Frisco, TX, Lesli Lord, McKinney, TX, Crystal Shaw, Chris Arthur and Brenna Gray, all of Ada; 28 great grandchildren; one brother, Olen Tilley, Bucklin, KS; six sisters, Iona Crockett, Oregon, Winnie Bailes, California, Lura Bosteder, Ada, Lela Richardson, Ada, Carlene McNutt, Ada, and Kay Daigle, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, F. O. "Bud" Jones; her brother, Karl Tilley; grandson, Kevin Jones; and great grandson, Jacob Newby.
Bearers will be Kenny Jones, Steve Newby, T. J. Hirosky, C'ate Jessee, Justin Lofton, Jonathan Jones and Lynn Lofton.
