ADA-Services for Rev. Larry Gene Pruitt, 68, of Ada, are 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Union Hill Baptist Church, Rev. Gary Jamar will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Rev. Pruitt died Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at a local hospital. He was born February 5, 1946 in Frederick, Oklahoma to Marvin and Bridget Lemonds Pruitt. He attended Frederick schools and graduated from Frederick High School. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1969. He also attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas from 1984 until graduating in 1988.
He married Peggy McGee on September 9, 1967. Rev. Pruitt and his family lived in Ada from 1971 until 1984 and later moved back to Ada in 2011 from Iowa. He pastored the Fairview Baptist Church in Anamosa, Iowa and God's Family Baptist Church in Grand Mound, Iowa before returning to Ada to retire. He pastored at Union Hill Baptist Church here for the last two years. He was also an associate services representative with Legal Shield Legal Services.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Pruitt of the home; a son, David Pruitt of Ada; a daughter, Amber Pruitt and her fiancé, John Dance of Ada; and two grandchildren, Andrew and Blake Pruitt.
Bearers will be John Johnson, Charles Johnson, Dewey Beene, John Ingle, Jr., Brent Smith, and Junior Nichols. Honorary bearers will be Johnny Barney and Bob Gray.
