Larry Joe Miller

Services for Larry Joe Miller, AKA Larry Eugene Hawthorne Esquire the III Miller, 76, of Ada, are 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2026, at Stonewall First Baptist Church; Rev. Randy Golden will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mr. Miller passed away Saturday, July 25, 2026, in Ada, surrounded by loved ones. He was born September 24, 1949, in Ada, to Lee Bailey and Leona Maudine May Miller.

He graduated from Stonewall High School in 1967 where he lettered and played baseball.

For more than 40 years, he worked in the oil patch, earning the respect of coworkers and friends through his unmatched work ethic, integrity, and willingness to lend a helping hand. He was more than a skilled worker—he was a mentor to many, generously sharing his knowledge and experience with those who followed in his footsteps. His guidance and friendship left a lasting impact on countless lives.

Outside of work, he found his greatest joy in the outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman, he cherished every opportunity to be on the water or in the mountains. His passion for fishing was evident in his achievement of holding the Little Susitna River record for trout, yes trout. Larry has killed many different game. Anything from Oklahoma squirrels to Alaska bears.

In 2001, Larry was attacked by a brown bear. Being a true outdoorsman, that did not stop him from hunting the rest of his years.

He also enjoyed relaxing with classic John Wayne movies, appreciating the timeless stories of courage, loyalty, and determination that mirrored many of the values he lived by. He also loved Family Feud with Steve Harvey.

Survivors include his loving and OSHA Certified daughters, Misty Lyn Miller and Tia Dawn Miller; cousin, Patricia Ann Hawkins, who was like a sister; and many other cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Leona Miller; father, Lee Miller; brother, Ronnie Lee Miller; maternal grandparents, Rayford May and Kate Murphy May; and paternal grandparents, Feron Smith Haverty and Bailey Miller.

Bearers are Tyler Hawkins, Chase Hawkins, Brodie Hawkins, Patrick Dennis, Wayne Lee, Pete Price, Shannon White and Will Chaney. Honorary bearers are Doug Massie, Brian Reimer, Dan Dickey, Toby Hunt, Steve Wysocki, Scotty Moone, Gary Byars, Ed Deveau, Randy Miller, Don Peek, Tony Billeci, Jerry Chubb, Harley Garrett, Pete Imhoff, Stonewall and Jesse Gang, and Flow Station #2 of Prudhoe Bay, Alaska.

The family says those who wish may make memorials to Stonewall School, for baseball, shop class, or Special Olympics, 600 Highschool Street, Stonewall, OK 74871.
