LARRY HILL
ADA-Services for Larry Raymond Hill, 72, of Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church, Dr. Pat Kilby and Rev. Jerry Wells will officiate. A Committal Service will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Greenhill Cemetery in Muskogee with Rev. John Haynes officiating.
Mr. Hill died Monday, January 19, 2015 at his home. He was born July 2, 1942 in Muskogee to Herbert Raymond and Ruth Eulala Montgomery Hill. He attended Whittier grade school and graduated from Muskogee Central High School. He attended Northeastern State College in Talequah.
He married Phyllis Ann Love on September 22, 1962 in Wagoner, OK. Mr. Hill worked as a policeman in Muskogee , he then entered the trucking business with his father. During the next 29 years, he was an OTR driver. He established and managed the Ada terminal and a warehouse complex in Ft. Worth, TX. He became President and CEO of H. R. Hill Trucking. In 1994 the trucking business sold and he then purchased Ada Burial Vault Company, changing the name to PALM Vault. He operated the company for 13 years before retiring. Mr. Hill was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Ada. He was a member of the Ada Lion's Club, the Jaycee's – serving as the local President and the S. E. State Vice-President. He was Chairman of the Associated Motor Carriers of Oklahoma and President of Oak Hills Golf and Country Club. Mr. Hill served in the U. S. Army Reserves and the U. S. Air Force Reserves, being honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Hill, of the home; a son, Mark Allen Hill and his wife Kim of Ada; a daughter, Alesha Perkins and her husband Toby of Ada; his mother, Ruth Eulala Hill of Muskogee; and his grandchildren, Lauren Hill Carpenter and husband Jeff of Ada, Elizabeth Freeman of Ada, Cash Freeman and his wife Jessica of Ada and Kendall Hill of Oklahoma City.
He was preceded in death by his father, H. R. Hill.
Bearers will be Ed Anderson, Don Hutchings, Jim Herndon, Ryan Hilton, Jacob Hilton and Tyler Winkle.
The family says those who wish may make memorials to the First Baptist Church Falls Creek Building Fund, 521 S. Broadway, Ada, OK 74820.
