Rev. Larry Hawkins

Services for Byron Larry Hawkins, 84, of Stonewall will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Blue Baptist Church, near Connerville; Rev. Jordan Parnacher will officiate with Rev. Mike Gross and Rev. Richard Coss assisting.  Burial will follow at Pontotoc Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mr. Hawkins passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at his home.  He was born February 13, 1941, in Talihina, OK to Bill and Dora Jeff Hawkins.

On May 25, 1963, he married Joanna Poe. He worked as an insurance adjuster and was employed with the Chickasaw Nation.  He also served as the pastor of Blue Baptist Church for many years. Mr. Hawkins retired from the Army National Guard after 25 years of service, attaining the rank of Major. He loved fishing and hunting and especially cherished spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Joann, of the home; two sons, Randal Hawkins and wife, Melissa and Brad Hawkins and wife Marjorie; daughter, Betsy Gibson and husband Paul; foster sons, Donnie Worcester and Glen McDaniel; sister, Dean Vitosh; six grandchildren; and one great granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and one granddaughter.

Bearers will be Bradley Hawkins, Zeph Hawkins, Zeb Hawkins, Donnie Worcester, Glen McDaniel, and Donnie Smith.  Honorary bearers will be Paul Gibson, Lance Buck, David Poe, Jerry "Pocket" Nelson, Sammy Townsend, and Gerry Poe.
