Obituary

Graveside services for Kenneth C. Sliger, Sr. will be held at 3 o'clock in the

afternoon on Friday, October 2nd, 2020 at Rosedale Cemetery in Ada, with

Harold Ware of First Baptist Church officiating. Chickasaw Honor Guard will

conduct military honors.

Mr. Sliger was born April 11, 1927, to E.M. and Maud Sliger. He went to be

with his heavenly Father on Wednesday, September 30, 2020.

Mr. Sliger considered himself tremendously blessed by the beautiful and

loving wife God provided to him. He was married to Avinelle "Nell" Sliger on

Dec. 14, 1950. They spent 68 loving years together, and received the blessing

of their beloved son, Kenny, in 1956.

Mr. Sliger graduated from Vanoss High School in 1946. He proudly served his

country in World War II as a Sergeant with the U.S. Army, and in the Korean

War as a Sergeant with the Oklahoma National Guard.

After completing his military service, Kenneth re-enrolled in East Central

College and raised cattle until obtaining a position and with the United States

Postal Service, where he proudly worked for 33 years. In retirement, he

owned and managed several rental properties, traveled the country with his

loving wife, and spent time looking after his two precious little granddaughters,

taking them fishing, to amusement parks, and making them his famous root

beer floats.

Mr. Sliger was a devout Christian who loved the Lord and served his church

throughout his entire life. He received Jesus as his Lord and Savior at the age

of 12, later became an ordained Deacon, and served as church treasurer for

many years.

In his later years, Mr. Sliger was a resident of the Sulphur Veterans Center,

where he was happy to be frequently visited and called by his

granddaughters, great-grandson, brother, niece, nephew, and other extended

family members. Kenneth and his family have been incredibly appreciative of

the wonderful care and support he received from the staff during his years

there.

Mr. Sliger was preceded in death by his wife, Avinelle "Nell" Sliger and their
