KATHRYN TAYLOR
OKLAHOMA CITY-Graveside services for Kathryn LeBella Taylor, 90, of Oklahoma City are 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Rosedale Cemetery, Rev. Steve Dennis will officiate and Suzanne Wooley will perform a violin solo. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Taylor died Saturday, September 28, 2013 at an Oklahoma City nursing center. She was born December 22, 1922 in Goodland, Oklahoma to John and Mamie Brinkley Wasem.
She married Delbert Taylor on July 20, 1940. He preceded her in death on February 25, 1997. Mrs. Taylor was a homemaker. She was a former member of the Ada First Baptist Church for many years and worked in the children's ministry. She was active with the jail and prison ministry and spent many evenings in prayer with the inmates or provided homemade sugar cookies for comfort.
She moved to McAlester in 1998 and became a member of the First Baptist Church in McAlester. She assisted families surviving disasters, the homeless and dressing the Vo Tech ladies with the skill of a personal shopper, always adding a prayer or bible. She was an advocate for the bus ministry and was a familiar fixture at the bus station, waiting to pass out cookies, socks and bibles of several languages. She was a prayer warrior for the Norman Vincent Peale Guidepost magazine and would receive packets of prayer requests weekly.
Survivors include two sons, Delbert Taylor of Hot Springs, AR, and Stephen Taylor and wife Mary of Konawa; two daughters, Diana Anderson of Wasilla, AK, and Becky Fenton of Edmond; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Delbert Taylor.
