KATHRYN RAGLAND
ADA-Graveside services for Kathryn Elizabeth Lewis Ragland, 97, Ada, are 10 a.m. Monday, at Rosedale Cemetery, Rev. David McCann officiating.
Mrs. Ragland died Saturday, March 12, 2011, at her home. She was born April 17, 1913, to Mr. and Mrs. James W. Lewis at Bokchito. She was a graduate of Horace Mann High School. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from East Central College, where she was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma sorority. She received her Masters degree from Columbia University, New York City. She also served as an assistant professor of foreign language, teaching Spanish at East Central College for many years. Mrs. Ragland was an active member of the University Women's club and Delta Kappa Gamma teachers' sorority. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ada.
She and Benjamin Robert Ragland were married Sept. 27, 1946, in Ada. Mr. Ragland died Oct. 16, 2006.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Ida Males, Hemet, CA; six nieces, Cynthia Jacobus, Alexandria, VA, Carolyn Quinn, Charlottesville, VA, Nancy Lewis, McKinney, TX, Betty Valentine, Prescott, AZ, Charlene Evans, Fremont, CA, and Elizabeth Marston, Coconut Grove, FL; six nephews, Steven Lewis, Roseville, CA, David Lewis, Erie, PA, Paul Gains, Edmond, OK, Richard Griffin, Hayes, VA, and Thomas Griffin, Hampton, VA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, six brothers, James, Howard, Herbert, Raymond, Warren and George Lewis, and two sisters, Edith Stratman and Evelyn Hay.
Honorary bearers are Jack Lambert, Scott Poe, Maury Halverson, Paul Gaines and Doug Haney.
