JUNE MITCHELL
ADA-Services for Junia Mable Mitchell, 88, Ada are 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Bob Langston will officiate. Burial will follow at Tishomingo Cemetery.
Mrs. Mitchell died Sunday, January 23, 2011 at a local hospital. She was born April 18, 1922 in Tishomingo, Oklahoma to J. B. "Duck" and Mable Newton O'Bryan. She graduated from Tishomingo High School and attended Murray State College.
She married Aubrey A. "Spike" Mitchell on September 14, 1941 in Gainesville, Texas. They moved to Ada in 1951. He preceded her in death on October 19, 1996. Mrs. Mitchell worked in the fabric department at TG & Y for many years and she was also a homemaker. She was also a 35 year unpaid employee of the OHP, responsible for preparing her husband's weekly activity/accident reports. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ada.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Byrd and her husband Don of Ada; two sons, Pat Mitchell and Mike Mitchell, of the home, and a "special" son, John Wayne Smith of Ada; three grandsons, Stephen Joe Stick of Colorado Springs, CO, Matt Byrd and Patrick Ryan Mitchell, both of Ada; three granddaughters, Kristin Byrd Price and Teddy Mitchell, both of Ada, and Ashley Miller of Claremore; 7 great grandchildren, Logan Byrd of Hartshorne, Dalton Robason of Maud, Alex Price, Zac Byrd and Jules Price of Ada, and Dani and Lexi Miller of Claremore; and an aunt, Pansy Craddock Bates of Ada.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Corbin and Carl "Hi" O'Bryan.
Bearers will be Joe Lee Walker, Gerald Ford, Bruce Johnson, Dale Snow, Terry Glover and Pete Price.
