Gloria June Matthews, 85, passed away from this earth January 20, 2013 of natural causes. She went to be in the presence of her Lord, Jesus Christ. June was born in Ada, Oklahoma to Jim and Marietta (Tot) Fleming on September 30, 1927. She grew up in Weleetka, Oklahoma, where, besides having her loving parents, she had her grandparents living just across the back fence. June went through the Weleetka school system and graduated from Weleetka High School. In March of 1948 she married George E. Matthews of Ada, Oklahoma. On a ranch, outside of Ada, they began their family of 4 children: Susan, George, Jim, and Mary. In 1955, they moved to Oklahoma City; and then from there to Omaha, Nebraska in 1963. After their children were grown, George and June moved back to Ada. June spent most of her adult life as a homemaker and mother. She loved to play bridge, and garden, in her spare time. Later in life, she hosted Bible studies at her house in Ada. She was always known for her generosity, she frequently helped people in need. It was a blow to her when her husband, George died in 1981. June, in her resilient spirit, continued on and made a new life for herself. June loved people and loved to host dinner parties involving her children, grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and her many friends. She had a way of making every individual feel like he or she was her favorite. June lived a full, rich, faithful life bent towards serving others. She spent the last 6 months of her life either in a hospital or a rehabilitation center where she still gladdened the hearts of her visitors and caregivers with her bright blue eyes, and smile that lit up the room. June is survived by her daughter Susan Offner and husband, Steve; son George Matthews, Jr; son Jim Matthews and wife, Teri; daughter Mary Breunig and husband, Bob; granddaughters: Elizabeth Offner, Nicole Offner, Katherine Breunig; grandsons: Rob Breunig and wife, Melissa; Bart Breunig, David Offner and wife, Randi; Danny Offner; Ben Breunig and wife, Leigh; great grandchildren: Caleb Offner, Blythe June Breunig and her dear friend Alfred Katz.
