JULIA MAE COLEMAN
SANTA BARBARA, CA-Graveside services for Julia Mae Coleman, 93, of Santa Barbara, CA, formerly of Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Friday at Rosedale Cemetery in Ada.
Ms. Coleman died Friday, September 19, 2014 in Santa Barbara. She was born January 22, 1921 at Jack Fork, Oklahoma (near Ada) to Ida Daniels and Alonzo Franklin. She attended Napier school.
She married Jesse Pickens, Sr. on April 6, 1940. He preceded her in death. She later married Elvin Coleman. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Coleman lived in Oklahoma City, Santa Ana, CA, Kansas City, MO and Los Angeles prior to moving to Carpinteria, CA. For many years, Julia had been a member of Reaper Baptist Church in Ada, after moving to Carpinteria, she joined Second Baptist Church in Santa Barbara, CA.
Survivors include three sons, Jesse Jr. (Bilal), Robert, and Glenn Pickens; six grandchildren, Sherrie, Holly, Ranon, Joel, Glenn Jr., and Tatiana; a number of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; a sister, Dorothy Colbert, OK; and brother, Alonzo Franklin, Jr., KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; and siblings, Houston Franklin, William C. Franklin, Azzie-Lee Franklin, Cornelius Grant and Walter Grant.
Honorary bearers will be Jesse Pickens, Jr., Robert Pickens and Glenn Pickens. Flower bearers will be family and friends.
