Graveside services for Lillie Ann Julia Cheadle Byrd, 94, of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Friday at Condon Grove Cemetery near Tishomingo. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Byrd passed away Sunday, September 1, 2019 at her home. She was born June 12, 1925 near Milburn to Tom and Ethel Mary Helms Cheadle. She graduated from Chiloco Indian School and attended Murray State College and Southeastern College.
She married John C. Byrd March 25, 1948. He preceded her in death July 8, 1963. Mrs. Byrd retired from the Bureau of Indian Affairs as a home mother at the Chiloco School and Sequoyah School. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Lynn Stumblingbear and husband Louie, Wichita, KS and Linda Thompson, Kingston; three sons, John Byrd and wife Renee, Oklahoma City, Randy Jack Byrd and wife Donna, Tulsa and Joe Charles Byrd of the home; a sister, Frances Bean, Stevens Point, Wisconsin; a nephew, Robert Cheadle and wife Darlene, Ada; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Jimmy Byrd; brother, Overton "Buck" Cheadle; and three sisters, Tommie D. Kline, Georgia Lara and Shinesta Williams.
