Obituary

Judy Wood

November 10, 1947 – January 23, 2026

Services for Judy Wood will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Criswell Funeral Home in Ada, Oklahoma. She passed away from complications of fungal pneumonia on January 23, 2026 in Midwest City, Oklahoma. The Reverend Steve Wilburn will officiate.

Judith Ann (Owen) Wood was born November 10, 1947 in Magnolia, Arkansas to Ottis Bedford (O.B.) Owen and Estella Owen. Judy's father worked in the oilfield, which led the family to move many times, living in several different states. After attending multiple schools, they settled in Ada where she attended Ada Junior High School. She graduated from Ada High School in 1965 and attended East Central University, where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. There she made many lifelong friends and obtained her bachelor's degree in psychology.

She moved to Columbus, Ohio to be closer to her brother Jimmy, where she began working for Congressman Wiley of Ohio. He later moved her to Washington, D.C. as part of his staff. She eventually made her way back to Columbus, then on to Dallas, and finally back to Ada to be close to her mother. After returning to Ada, she met the love of her life, Eddie Wood, and they were married on April 5, 1974. Most of you know the rest of the story.

Her life was filled with family, with blessings, and with lots of love. She was an avid reader, sometimes reading two or three books in a week. She was an exceptional cook, using smell, sight, and taste instead of recipes. She often joked that she would be remembered for her fried chicken and gravy over anything else. She was the rock of the family and everybody's go-to listener.

Judy will be remembered for her love. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and she loved her family and friends unconditionally.

Survivors include her husband, Eddie Wood of the home; two sons, Matt Wood and his wife Buffy of Ada, and Adam Wood of Ada and his girlfriend Deanna, "who fit right in with the rest"; four grandchildren who were the light of her life, Dylan Wood, Bryce Wood, Karleigh Wood, and Trent Carter; her lifelong friend and sister in Christ, Janet Cane; and the following nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly: Mary Lynn Stewart Hohman and husband John of Columbus, Ohio; Andy and Dawna Wood of McKinney, Texas; Lujane and Rick Sweeney of Incline Village, Nevada; and Leanne Burris of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, along with many great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Hollis Lynn Owen and Jimmy Stewart; her sister, Mary Erickson and a nephew William Nathanial Stroud, III (Billy).

The family would like to give special thanks to the ICU staff at Mercy Hospital in Ada, as well as the staff at Inspire Specialty Long Term Care Hospital in Midwest City. They loved Judy and treated her like their own family while they cared for her, and she loved each and every one of them.
