JOYCE RAY
STRATFORD-Services for Joyce Marie Ray, 72, Stratford, are 2:00 p.m. Monday at Trinity Baptist Church in Ada, Rev. Chad Kaminski will officiate. Burial will follow at Allen Cemetery.
Mrs. Ray died Thursday, April 15, 2010 at her home. She was born February 6, 1938 at Paden, Oklahoma to Mitchell Jeffery and Weda Cowell Harwell. She attended Paden schools and graduated from Mounds High School. She attended the College of Sequoyah in Visalia, California.
She married Walker Darrell "Corky" Ray. He preceded her in death on April 10, 2002. Mrs. Ray retired from the Pre-Paid Legal Attorney Resources Department. She had previously worked as a church secretary for several churches and also sold pre-need burial policies for several funeral homes. She was a member of Victory Life Cathedral in Tulsa, the Red Hat Society, and Beta Sigma Phi. She was also a member of the Stratford Chamber of Commerce and enjoyed going to gospel singings. Joyce was also a writer of poems, stories and songs. Recently she had some of her songs recorded in an album project titled "Teddy Bear Love."
Survivors include three sons, Jeff Ray and wife Julie, Allen, Kurt Ray and wife Donnieta, Ada, and Rodney Ray and wife Ksenia, Savanah, Texas; four brothers, Bob Harwell and wife Peggy, Fayetteville, AR, Bill Harwell and wife Shirley, Tulsa, Ben Harwell and wife Jenny, Auburn, California, and Jake Harwell and wife Selma, Taos, New Mexico; ten grandchildren, David Fisher and fiancé, Stephanie McMullins, Jill Batey and husband Ron, Jessica Cooper and husband Curt, Courtney Ray, Haley Ray, Logan Ray, Chesleigh Ray, Ava Grace Ray, Sam Ray, and Nicholas "Hank" Ray; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor Batey and Maggie Cooper.
Bearers will be David Fisher, Ron Batey, Curt Cooper, Logan Ray, Donnie Pipkin and Andy Harwell.
