JOY NELL SIMMONS

ADA-Services for Joy Nell Simmons, 68, Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2007, at First United Pentecostal Church on East Main in Ada, Revs. John Mayhue and Daniel Johnson officiating. Burial follows at Lightning Ridge Cemetery.

Mrs. Simmons died on Saturday, September 8, 2007, at a local hospital. She was born February 4, 1939, at Citra community south of Allen to Marvin and Velda Nickell Stowe. She lived in this area all her life and attended school at Lovelady. She was employed at Ballard Nursing Home and was a home health provider. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church.

She married C. J. Simmons in 1955. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1991.

Survivors include four sons, Rick Simmons and his wife Vera, Ada; Jim Simmons and his wife Edna, Ada; Phillip Simmons, Ada; and Terry Simmons, Ada; a daughter, Sharlotte Reeves and her husband Jim, Byars; brother, Billy Jack Stowe, Stonewall; four sisters, Francine Simmons and her husband Leon, Ada; Glenda Stowe Ellison, Shawnee; Wanda Chasteen, Ada; and Beverly Osborne, Ada; seven grandchildren, Gary Simmons, Cindy Simmons, Anna Simmons, Miranda Schell and her husband Derek, Matthew "Bubba" Vogt and his wife Jennifer, Julie Sorter and her husband Troy, and Brendan Caudle; and ten great grandchildren.

Bearers are Derek Schell, Troy Sorter, Ronnie Simmons, Morris Cane, Gary Simmons and Bryce Simmons.
