She attended Shawnee schools through 8 th grade until her family moved to Madill, OK graduating from high school in 1957.

In 2017, Joy and Laymond moved to Edmond to be closer to their family. They spent the last three years at The Veraden Senior Living. While there, they developed wonderful friendships with the residents and staff.

Meme's pride and joy was her family. She especially loved and talked about her grandchildren, who she called her precious angels.

Joy was a social butterfly. She loved to plan & host parties. They usually involved dinner as she loved to cook. Her love for Christmas was well known as she was known for going "all in" on decorations, food and gifts.

Joy had the unique ability to connect with people of all ages. She loved to sit down with you, ask about your life and tell you about hers. She was a dear friend to many people.
