IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joy
Nickell
October 22, 1935 – November 25, 2025
Joy Nickell
Joy Dean Nickell, of Allen, OK went home to be with the Lord on November 25, 2025, at 90 years of age.
Joy was the daughter of Albert and Opal Johnson, born on October 22, 1935, in Atoka, OK. Joy married her late husband Fred Nickell and they made their home in Allen, OK.
Joy lived a life rooted in love, strength, and unwavering faith. She was the heart of her family — the one who always had an open door, a warm meal, and a listening ear. Her laughter filled every room.
True to her name, she brought light and warmth into every life she touched. Joy was a compassionate, caring soul. She dedicated much of her life to nurturing and guiding children in her community through her home daycare, becoming a second mother to so many. Her patience, kindness, and gentle spirit shaped countless young lives.
She loved cooking for her family, filling her home with the smells of comfort and the sounds of laughter. Bingo nights were one of her favorite joys, and she proudly volunteered on Election Days, always ready to lend a hand where it was needed.
Her greatest pride, however, was her family. Joy adored her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren—each one held a special place in her heart. To us. She was a steady place, comfort, and example of unconditional love.
Joy leaves behind her son, Brian Nickell; her grandchildren, Brandy Roberts, Cash Nickell, Jerry Nickell Jr, Charity Nickell, Shane Nickell, Derrick Nickell, Rachel Jones, Tika Nickell; her sister, Margie Bunge; as well as many great-grand children, great great-grandchildren, nieces, extended family and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Opal Johnson; husband Fred Nickell; sons, Ronnie Nickell and Gerald Nickell; brother Marland Johnson; sister, Deloris Lovelady.
Graveside services for Joy will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at 1:00pm at Allen Cemetery officiated by Bobby Briggs. All who knew and loved her are welcome to join us in honoring her beautiful life. Visitation will be held at the Allen Chapel on Monday from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
Pallbearers are Shane Nickell, Derrick Nickell, Cash Nickell, Jerry Nickell Jr, Kaleb Robison, Cash Nickell Jr.
