Josephine Leonard
Josephine Oliver Leonard, 82 of Tomball, TX. went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 6 th after a short battle with Covid-19. She was born in Lawton, OK. on Dec. 15 th , 1937 to Edgar Oliver and Josephine Perry. Her mother died at birth and her father passed away when she was young. She was raised by her grandmother, Casey Alexander Perry, who was an original enrollee listed on the Dawes Commission Rolls for the Chickasaw Nation. She married the late Donald Leroy Leonard of Ada, OK.
She lived most of her life in Ada where she worked at Brockway Glass, Blue Bell Manufacturing, Selective Services, Kerr Water Lab, and Carl Albert Indian Hospital. Don and Jo also owned and operated the Arlington Garden Center.
She was an active member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church where she played the organ, piano, and sang in the choir. In 2005, she moved to Tomball, where she became an active member of the Tomball Assembly of God. Her love for our heavenly father and her devotion to his teachings made a lasting impression on everyone she met. She loved to sing and through the years, sang at many funerals and visited nursing homes almost weekly.
She is survived by two children: Sherri Shelton and husband Kirk of Cypress, TX and Rick Leonard and wife Sara of Oklahoma City, OK. She has two grandchildren, Kacie Shelton and husband Christopher Dauterive of Cypress, TX. and Kailey Shelton of Houston, TX. Josephine touched many lives and as a result left behind many friends.
There will be a public viewing at Criswell Funeral Home in Ada, OK. on Thursday, August 13 th , from 5 – 7 PM. There will be a graveside ceremony at 10 AM at the High Hill Cemetery on Friday, August 14 th .
Due to family health issues, it is requested that masks and social distancing be observed.
