Walker
July 30, 1935 – November 16, 2021
John Earl Walker was born in Sulphur, OK, 30 July 1935 to Mildred Ryon and Addison Walker. He belonged to the First Baptist Church and graduated from Sulphur High School before joining the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Germany. He also was a member of the Oklahoma National Guard. John attended Murray State and East Central University before a career as a mud logger in the oil patch. As a young man, one adventure was as a firefighter in Idaho.
Proud of his heritage, John was a member of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma. He enjoyed reading, family gatherings, watching football games, visiting at the barber ship, and listening to classical music. Handel's Messiah was his favorite. John enjoyed Sulphur history and news and stayed in touch with friends and neighbors in Sulphur through the years. He was a patriotic person who loved America.
John had a large and extended family. He is survived by his son, Mitchell, and wife, Brittney; a brother, Ted (Barney); and a sister, Rebecca (Beck); a brother-in-law, Ernie; sister-in-law, Delores; numerous nieces and nephews and their families; and cousins and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred Ryon Walker and Addison Walker; brothers, Russell (Russ Brother), Haskell (Hap); and J.Ryon (Bing); and sisters, Celia (Cissie), Olivia, Suzanne (Suze), Martha, and Patricia (Pat).
A memorial will be held at a future time.
