John William Von Cannon

Services for John William Von Cannon, 78, of Stonewall, are 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2025, at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel; Rev. Richard Bailey will officiate.  The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mr. Von Cannon passed away Sunday, May 25, 2025, in Ada.  He was born October 2, 1946, in Hewins, KS to John Paul and Nora Alice Rush Von Cannon.  He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  Mr. Von Cannon worked in the oilfield until his retirement.

Mr. Von Cannon loved spending time with his grandchildren and teasing them.  He would make them take naps when they were younger where he got his nickname "Napping Grandpa".

Survivors include his two daughters, Teresa (Shawn) Peterson of Garfield, KS and Tara Blankenship; sister, Judy Von Cannon; grandchildren, William Peterson, Candice Peterson, and Shawn Peterson II of Garfield, KS, Kaetlynn Frye of Wayne, OK, and Russell Blankenship of Stonewall, OK; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his adopted family, Wade Dickinson, Leslie Dickinson, Laney Dickinson, and Casey Dickinson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joan Robinson; brother, Jack Von Cannon; and son-in-law, Roger Blankenship.
