JOHN CANNON RYAN

BYNG-Services for John Cannon Ryan, 74, Byng, are 10:00 A.M. Friday at the Criswell Chapel, Rev. Roger Arter will officiate. Burial follows at Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mr. Ryan died on Saturday, December 6, 2008, at his home. He was born August 1, 1934, in Atlanta, Illinois, to Arthur Merl and Leatha Snyder Ryan. He graduated from high school in Atlanta, Illinois and served in the U. S. Navy. He moved to this area in 1997 from Sarasota, Florida and worked in the maintenance department at the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. He was a member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans, and was affiliated with Byng Free Will Baptist Church.

He married Gidget Montgomery on September 22, 1977 in Centerville, Missouri.

Survivors include his wife, Gidget Ryan, of the home; five daughters, LeAnn Ryan, Sarasota, Florida; Kelly Hughes, North Carolina; Janice Ryan, Pensacola, Florida; Kim Herring, Lone Star, Texas, and Angie Grooms, Gainesville, Florida; a step-son, Greg Cochran, Francis; two sisters, Stella Rinehart, Lincoln, Illinois, and Goldie Ball, Goodfield, Illinois; and a brother, Frank T. Ryan, Tulsa; twenty grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Sale.
