JOHN JOHNSTON
CLARITA-Services for John Royce Johnston, 75, of Clarita, are 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel in Ada. Rev. Wayne Breshears and Mr. Brian Keith Johnston will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Coal County.
Mr. Johnston died Thursday, December 5, 2013 at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born February 25, 1938 at Lula, Oklahoma to Robert Henry and Edna Virgie Thompson Johnston. He attended Lula grade school and graduated from Tupelo High School. He moved to Clarita five years ago from Eufaula.
He married Margrett Angel on April 25, 1959 in Stonewall, Oklahoma. Mr. Johnston was a pumper in the oil field and also a farmer. He was a member of the Tupelo Full Gospel Church, was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman.
Survivors include his wife, Margrett Johnston, of the home; two sons, Royce Lee Johnston and wife LaSondra of Centrahoma, and Robert Issac Johnston of Eufaula; four grandchildren, Summer Lynn Dowling, Eufaula, Robert Shaun Johnston, Eufaula, Megan Ann Johnston, Texas City, TX, and Jacob Levi Johnston, Centrahoma; and one great grandchild, Mariah Brea Johnston, Kingston.
He was preceded in death by his parents, R. H. and Virgie Johnston; a granddaughter, Mellissa Lee Johnston; two brothers, R. H. Johnston and Arthur Johnston; and a sister, Mary Sue Robertson.
Bearers will be Kerry Johnston, Darryl Johnston, Keith Johnston, Roger Johnston, Andy Dowling and Lynn Ross. Honorary bearer will be Roy Ross.
