JOHN COLLIER

MOORE-Services for John Wesley Collier, 89, Moore, formerly of Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jimmy Hoffman will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mr. Collier died Friday, May 28, 2010 at an Ardmore Veterans Center. He was born August 9, 1920 at Vanoss, Oklahoma to William Grant and Theo Doshie Cowger Collier. He attended Homer elementary school and graduated from Byng High School. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II from June 1, 1941 until October 16, 1945. He was honorably discharged as a Boatswain's Mate, Second Class.

He married Vera Forrester on April 24, 1974. Mr. Collier was a Ada Police Officer and later a Detective. He retired as a Probation and Parole Officer for the State of Oklahoma after 20 years of service. Mr. Collier was a member of the Homer Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Vera Collier, Moore; four daughters, Rena Scarbrough and husband Leonard, Ada, Deborah Eaton, Ada, Jan Stowers and husband Richard, Madill, and Denise Edens, Moore; one son, Tim Forrester, Washington, D.C.; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and a special friend, Glenna Tindel, Moore.

Bearers will be Bill Scarbrough, Ronnie Eaton, Tommy Eaton, Jory Easterling, Jared Easterling, Todd Ross, and Richard Stowers.
